Some homes don't need to be reinvented.

They simply need someone to recognize what they've been trying to say all along.

When the owners of Heritage House completed the restoration of this beautiful historic bed and breakfast in Weston, Missouri, they invited me to help style the interiors. The architecture and craftsmanship already told a remarkable story. My role was to add the finishing layers that would make each room feel warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully lived in.

Working in a historic home is always one of my favorite challenges. Every decision should honor the character of the building rather than compete with it. The goal isn't to fill a room—it's to help it feel complete.

Together, we selected rugs, artwork, textiles, lighting, and vintage-inspired accessories that complemented the home's history while creating comfortable spaces for modern guests. Each piece was chosen to feel as though it belonged there, adding personality without overshadowing the home's original charm.

One of my favorite parts of styling a space like this is watching individual pieces come together into something greater than the sum of their parts. A room can begin with beautiful architecture, but it's often the collected layers—the texture of a throw, the warmth of an old rug, a well-placed piece of art—that make people exhale as they walk through the door.

Heritage House reminded me that good design isn't about following trends. It's about listening to a space, respecting its history, and creating an environment that makes people immediately feel at home.

It was a privilege to play a small part in the story of such a special home.
